COVID-19 IN THE UNITED STATES

Updated 5Apr:SOCIAL DISTANCING IS WORKING

US COVID-19 cases are currently doubling every 5.1 days. That is 50% slower than its initial exponential phase prior to social distancing when cases were doubling every 2. 4 days. The US is on track to hit one million cases on April 13th.

US deaths have started to flatten to parallel the case data. The impact on social distancing looks tremendous. If the country had stayed on the same trajectory we would have had 682 thousand deaths by April 19th. The country is now on track to have less than 10% of that (60 thousand) by that date.

Despite this success, the growth rate needs to slow further to reverse the daily increase in deaths and before we can begin to eradicate the virus.
